aFteR bABbiTT scREamEd
adventures in a serial slaughterhouse
This piece was written as an assignment during my masters candidacy. It was supposed to incorporate various serial techniques, which it does. Still, I wrote the thing rather ‘tongue in cheek’ and made little jokes in it throughout the way. Some of them are pretty obvious, as in the case of the expression markings; how does one play ‘cyborganically’, for instance? Also, the title was meant to play off the similarity between the names Babbitt (the famed serialist) and Bobbitt. There had been quite a flurry of news activity on the latter just before this piece was written.
The ironic thing is that even though I’m poking fun at serialism here, I actually kind of like the piece, which is why it is here for you to download and (try to) play. It is bear difficult (as most serial pieces are).
