Ideas from Here to the Moon
I have yet to decided if the gift to brainstorm is a blessing, a curse or both (I’m leaning toward the latter right now). I always seem to be blessed with more ideas than time and resources to accomplish those ideas. Some of the thing that have been floating around in my brain lately (some I’ve worked on, others are only concepts):
- Ideas for the Garden: Plant the tomatos, trim the bushes and other fun things.
- A Christmas Carol Jam for my families annual Christmas Eve Party (instead of just having a sing-a-long, everyone brings all the instruments and really go for it . . . of course, some one would need to organize it and get everyone some music to jam off of).
- Start a classical singer collective similar to the composer collective I helped found, SaltyCricket.org.
- Coordinate composers with classical singers via a new, as yet to be organized, classical singer collective.
- Learn to play bass guitar.
- Schedule performances of my latest programs, American Revolutions and How Can I Keep From Singing?, at my home, friends homes, city events (some done) and rest homes/hospitals, etc.
- Blog more and update my websites more often.
- Create an “Old Father Christmas” program.
- Write/collaborate with other singers on one person programs. So far I’ve talked to Venicia Wilson about Anne Hutchinson and Brian Manternach about James Joyce.
- Record an “American Revolutions” CD
- Write a Frankenstein opera.
- Write a sequal to “Abinadi.”
- Write the Nicholas Goblinslayer story.
- Finish a libretto for the Courtship of Miles Standish
- Write more children’s music; a second Halloween album, Twelve Twisters and other ideas.
- Write more choral music; several concrete ideas, including a Tree of Life oratorio and a Christmas cantata.
- Write a Sci-Fi opera.
I could go on. So many ideas and sub-ideas, sometimes my head swims and my heart feels in the middle of a tug-of-war. So what am I going to work on now? Well, expediance dictates that if I want to have an album to sell at my Summer concerts, I’d better get recording the vocals soon. Only a month til the first short presentation of American Revolutions at Pony Express Days in Eagle Mountain.
